My work life is split between Brentford and Livingston, cultural centres both. Spending so much time in Brentford, you get to know it pretty well. This is the result of a brief wander one cold, January evening with the X100S. Not exhaustive, there is more to report on Brentford, but hopefully this will give you a flavour of this buzzing metropolis of West London, where to go, where to avoid and where to get a good curry. This is important information.
Brentford Lock – quite attractive as City Centre canal scenes go
the little building at Brentford Lock
The Weir – good pub and restaurant, food is good and you can sit outside in the summer
La Rosetta – great little Italian, Ciro and his family are lovely
Castle Pizza, never been but I’d say no. And as for the Brentford Rangers shop – no idea what’s going on there
Brentford has shops like the imaginatively named “Food Link”
like all great metropolitan centres, Brentford is lit up at night by a spectacular light display – like the glow coming from Solar Tanning
I used to think the Beehive was an OK pub, then one night some guys threatened to break our necks so we left and I’ve never been back – avoid
The Old Fire Station is a cool building, there is a Persian restaurant Atash upstairs that sells simple, nice food and Estonian Beer
since the Beehive is out of bounds for non-mentals, you can get a quite pint in the Watermans Arms, has a small courtyard for the summer
on the right is Pappadums, my favourite Indian in Brentford, food is always very good
I have never sampled Jenny’s Kebab – I never will
as far as I know, The Six Bells are not what gets knocked out go you should you enter, always seemed fine to me and has a good pool table
