Humbled by association

This post serves a very simple purpose. To thank my very good friend DonP for all his help and support over the last few years. He really is a diamond. Recently, he put me forward to become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Last week I got the news that it had been successful, and I am now Scott Liddell BEng FRSA.
When you look at the people who have been and still are Fellows then its a little humbling, to say the least.
Groucho Marx aside, I'm very much looking forward to seeing how I can get involved.

Beavering away...

Not posted for a while. Its been a bit hectic.
I've also started work on a new design for scott.liddell.com.
I've unashamedly been inspired by the excellent design work on the CSS Zen Garden.
Its fair to say that my CSS skills aren't exactly flying yet so it's taking longer than I had hoped but I hope to have it up and ready fairly soon.

I used to find web design very relaxing, but I've found trying to get a CSS heavy site to work on both IE and Firefox is one of the most frustrating technical things I've ever done.

Luckily, I've had some other web work on the go and I've just completed a simple little design for my good friend WDG and his most excellent Cedar Nursery in Lenzie.

New Book - New Sites

After months of indecision, I've finally decided what book I'm going to try and write next. It will be called 'Terra Exitus' and because it has a vague web tie-in (which a certain person finds crass!) I've registered the domain in preparation. I'll probably split off a separate blog to record the fun and games of trying to fit writing it into what remains of my free time.
And because there was a deal on .com's I registered thebeatleman.com too. I'm only going to start Terra Exitus when the final edits of The Beatle Man are complete.

My Favourite Tree

Took a very rare day off on Friday, got up early and went to Cammo in the dark. Feet got very wet trudging across the field and it was a little chilly thereafter but I did get this picture of my favourite tree. Its up on a little rise which means you can get below it and capture a good perspective against the sky.

Later in the day, went into Edinburgh for lunch and wandering around with the camera, clicked a few things. Never easy to get a unique view on the centre of Edinburgh, don't claim to have succeeded either!
