First time at zoo with the new camera. Still a few struggles with metering but I was able to get some photos I could never have managed before, so it was good first try.

Jaguar

Isn’t she lovely a jaguar?

Was lucky to catch this shot. Was headed back down and grabbed this over the top of a small crowd at the window.

This was the only view I could get of her on the way up. Looks very peaceful.

Wolverine

Wolverine!

After I don’t know how many zoo trips, I finally got a photo of the wolverine. Not a great photo but my favourite of the day.

Yabbra the Koala

Yabbra the Koala

If getting the Wolverine wasn’t lucky enough, I got an awake koala too!

And he has a lovely Koala smile too.

Look Left, Look Up, Look Right

Look Left, Look Up, Look Right – The Meerkats have all directions covered.

If you’re at the zoo and you want to make sure you get at least one good photo of an animals, go see the meerkats.

Sleeping Male Giant Panda

Sleeping Male Giant Panda

Second trip to the pandas and still to catch them outside. But it was Sunday morning, so I’ll let them off.

Sleeping Female Giant Panda

Don’t fear, I’ll be back…

Singing Sun Bear

Singing Sun Bear

Is it just me or does it look like the Sun Bear is singing? They were good value today, the brothers were having a good ole fight.

Rhino Sleeping in Water

Rhino Sleeping in Water

The rhinos were inside having a snooze in the water. This was one the shots that the old 20D could never have got, even the 5D was stretched. It was pretty dark in there.

Spooky Cassowary

Spooky Cassowary

When it’s not outside, the Cassowary lives inside adjoining the hippos. You get a wee bit of a fright when you peak through the window and it is glaring at you.

Old Chimpanzee

Old Chimpanzee

I was hoping for a good chimp close-up today but they were fairly intent at pointing their backsides at me (which is fair enough). This old guy had a wander outside though.

Gelada Baboons

Gelada Baboons

Most of the Gelada Baboons were still inside (including the big male). This guys were run back and forth outside to in.
